A little about me:

My name is Meghan, and I grew up in Crofton, which is a small town of 1500 people on Vancouver Island. I have moved around quite a bit in Canada for both school and work, and I have done a fair bit of travelling. Firstly, I lived in Jasper, Alberta for a winter season after high school and worked at a ski resort. Then, I went straight into university for sciences in Nanaimo, BC, and then I moved to Ottawa, Ontario for Dental Hygiene school. After practicing as a dental hygienist for 2 years, I went back to school at the University of Ottawa and obtained my degree in International Economics and Development. After working in the government and doing some travelling, I decided I wanted to move back west, so I moved to Calgary, Alberta. Living near the Rockies made me appreciate hiking so much, and most of my weekends were spent going on various hikes in Kananaskis, Canmore, and Banff.  After several years of cold winters and being away from home, my boyfriend and I made our way back home to Vancouver Island.

With my new love of hiking and the outdoors, I appreciated living on the island so much more when I moved back. We moved to Victoria initially, but have since moved to Nanaimo to settle and work. This is where I have now started to take up blogging, so that I can share my experiences and this beautiful island with people I know from across Canada and internationally. I am a very artsy person, so blogging definitely fulfills that creativity void that I was missing. Additionally, after over 6 years of school and finally being free, it is actually nice to write as a hobby and not as a task.

I hope you enjoy my blog! You will find that it is mostly about hiking, but I am going to also include excerpts on my travel experiences and lifestyle eventually.
